What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kallm Beach is noted for its lack of crowds, but this is often due to its rocky terrain, presence of sea urchins, and challenging access road. While some find the northern section cleaner and prettier, the overall experience can be marred by litter and high prices for amenities. Jet ski rentals are a positive highlight for some visitors.
"Tough and unpleasant drive,
Very rocky with little sand, sea urchins and algae, do not recommend, there are nicer beaches in Durrës.
Only positive is that it is not crowded, most likely because it’s not great.

"This place definitely has potential. Already the path to the beach leads through beautiful nature…problem is they made a pile of garbage of it. Trash everywhere, we came late afternoon at about 4pm to stay only hour or two and they wanted 15€ for one umbrella with sun-beds, which was really outrageous considering the waste around and duration of our potential stay. The offer was also strange as there were almost no people and I would expect them to want at least some profit. After some negotiation (arrogant from their side) they offered 10€, but after all we experienced we decided to leave. Big disappointment."

The Kallm Beach Experience: Beyond the Hype
For those seeking adventure, renting a jet ski can be a highlight, offering an exhilarating way to experience the Adriatic Sea. However, the cost of amenities like sunbeds and umbrellas can be surprisingly high, prompting some visitors to negotiate prices. The journey to the beach itself, through what's described as beautiful nature, is a positive aspect, but the overall experience is significantly impacted by the state of the access road and the beach's cleanliness.
Ultimately, Kallm Beach is not your typical sandy paradise. It requires a certain resilience and a willingness to overlook some drawbacks. The potential for a more pleasant visit lies in seeking out the less-trodden northern parts and being prepared for the rugged environment. It's a destination that rewards those who are adventurous and discerning.
Navigating the Rough Roads to Kallm Beach
For travelers without their own vehicle, options include buses and taxis from Tirana. However, the road conditions mean that taxi fares might be higher, and the ride can be uncomfortable. It's advisable to confirm the route and agree on a price beforehand. Some travelers suggest that nearby alternatives like Durrës or Gjiri i Lalzit might offer a more straightforward travel experience if reaching Kallm Beach proves too daunting.
If you do decide to brave the journey, the scenic nature path leading to the beach offers a glimpse of the natural beauty of the area. However, the challenging road is a crucial factor to consider when planning your visit to Kallm Beach, as it significantly impacts the overall accessibility and convenience.
