The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. Special thanks to Drita for his warm hospitality, helpful tips, and deep knowledge of the hotel’s history, the city, and the country.
Breakfast on the veranda overlooking the old town was unforgettable—great food and stunning scenery. Highly recommended!"

"Paid a bit more for the Deluxe King suite but it was absolutely so worth it. Old ottoman style building and decor, such cool interior with fireplace and carved ceilings it was such a cool experience. Everything was perfect about it, even the shower had an old archers arrow slit window which was so niche and cool. Breakfast was lovely too."

Harry Odell

"Nice hotel well located jn the old city center close the bazaar with parking: although some rooms are small they are nicely decorated, good breakfast and friendly staff . Our family enjoyed our stay in the hotel, we recommend."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Art of Haggling in the Old Bazaar

Haggling is an integral part of the Old Bazaar experience, a tradition that adds to the lively atmosphere. It's not just about getting a lower price; it's a social interaction. Approach it with a friendly demeanor and a smile. Start by showing genuine interest in the item, then make an offer that's lower than your intended price, but not insultingly so. The vendor will counter, and you go back and forth until you reach a price you're both happy with. Remember, if you can't agree on a price, it's perfectly acceptable to politely thank them and move on to another stall. Reddit

Key takeaway: Be respectful, have fun, and know when to walk away. It's a skill that improves with practice, and many visitors find it to be one of the most engaging aspects of shopping in the bazaar. Don't be afraid to try, even if you're not a seasoned negotiator. Reddit

Navigating the Labyrinthine Alleys

The Old Bazaar is a true labyrinth, with narrow, winding alleys that can easily disorient first-time visitors. While getting a little lost can lead to delightful discoveries, it's wise to have a general sense of direction. Many modern bazaars have maps available, or you can use your phone's GPS, though signal can be spotty. Look for landmarks like prominent mosques, minarets, or large fountains to orient yourself. Some sections are dedicated to specific trades, like the coppersmiths' alley or the spice merchants' quarter, which can help you navigate. Reddit

Pro-tip: Take photos of street signs or distinctive shop fronts as you go, which can help you retrace your steps. If you feel truly lost, don't hesitate to ask a shopkeeper or a local for directions. Most are happy to help guide you back to a main thoroughfare. Reddit

Discovering Authentic Crafts and Souvenirs

The Old Bazaar is a treasure trove for unique souvenirs and authentic crafts. Beyond the mass-produced items, seek out stalls run by artisans themselves. Look for hand-painted ceramics, intricately woven textiles, traditional leather goods, and unique metalwork. The quality can vary greatly, so take your time to inspect items for craftsmanship and durability. Don't be afraid to ask the vendors about the origin of their products and the techniques used. This often leads to fascinating conversations and a deeper appreciation for the items. Reddit

What to look for: Hand-embroidered fabrics, locally sourced spices, traditional jewelry, carved wooden items, and regional pottery. Many vendors are proud of their heritage and happy to share stories behind their creations. Reddit
