"We had a great time walking through this old castle, some of it is rundown but there’s an old church that’s in good shape and the views from the castle are stunning! We came in November so pretty much had the place to ourselves, not sure how the experience would be if it was crowded but once inside the area, you walk through a small old town as well that’s quite tranquil. There is also a cafe (cafe butterfly) in this area with a great view and a nice spot to stop for a drink or coffee when exploring."

"I loved visiting here because it seemed much less touristed than other castles. There are lots of photo opportunities. There are sweet little cafes tucked into the stone walls. The church is wonderful, with the original paintings on the walls. There are beautiful view of the sea and the surrounding environment of mountains makes for a perfect setting."

"Himara Castle is a peaceful and scenic place to explore, with amazing views over the coastline and the surrounding mountains. It’s not a traditional, fully intact castle but more like a historic village with ruins, old churches, and a few local homes scattered inside the walls, which makes it really unique.
It’s a great spot to wander, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere. It’s usually quiet and not crowded, especially in the morning or late afternoon. I went before sunset and there was barely no one.
Tip: Wear good shoes. The paths are uneven and rocky in some parts. Made the mistake to wear flip flops.
Overall, a great little adventure and definitely worth the walk or short drive up from Himara town!"
