Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Monastery of St. George for its absolutely stunning sunset views and peaceful, quiet atmosphere. While the monastery itself may be closed, the exterior and panoramic vistas of the lake and sea are highly appreciated. Some travelers noted the presence of mosquitoes in the evening, and the accessibility of the interior can vary.
"Nice view of sunset. Monastery itself is closed, but still pretty from the outside. If you have only one day, the sunset from lekurisi castle is better in my opinion. If you have a few days, come here also. Super quiet, I was the only one here, which was nice."
Etienne Ghyoot
"Beautifully located on top of the hill, perfect for sunsets. We didn't follow the official signpost but walked from the main road a bit further ahead (bus stop). There are two paths, one is circling around the hill, allowing for some shade and views of the sunset/sea, the direct one is shorter but narrow and not always easy to see. The gatekeeper appeared out of nowhere and offered us to visit during sunset hour - truly enchanting!"
Stefanie Meyer
"It's actually a beautiful location but if you visit it in the evening the mosquitos will definitely attack you and you need a protection spray. The view from the monastery is beautiful and worth taking sunset photos. We weren't able to enter the courtyard, had to admire it from the outside."
