What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Mezuraj Museum offers a unique, albeit small, collection of Albanian art and historical artifacts. Visitors often praise the friendly staff and the eclectic mix of exhibits. However, its hidden entrance, inconsistent opening hours, and perceived high entrance fee for its size are common points of critique.
"The museum does not exist anymore. It is closed. I went inside by elevator and walked down. The sign has been removed. The street facade is a nice one"
Simon
"This museum is tricky to find! You can access it through the small street to the east (right) of the bank. We walked up four levels or so to the museum— there was also an elevator but we weren’t sure which floor to choose.
Once we found it, we enjoyed this small but interesting museum— the collection is eclectic and includes modern art by Albanian painters and also ancient Illyrian and Albanian artifacts. The staff was very friendly and even offered us our choice of water or coffee."
Andrew Russell
"The map shows the wrong location. A little ahead of the bank there is a turn to the left. You have to enter the building on the way back and go up to the 1st floor. I went at 11 o'clock but the museum was closed. (Google also looked open) I'll try to go again."

The entrance fee is reported to be around 5 Euros. It's always a good idea to have some local currency on hand, though card payments might be accepted.

While the museum contains historical artifacts, one review mentioned a child biking dangerously among amphoras, suggesting supervision is needed. The intimate size might be manageable for older children interested in art and history.
🎫 🏛️ Onsite Experience
The museum features an eclectic collection, including modern art by Albanian painters and ancient Illyrian and Albanian artifacts. Exhibitions reportedly change monthly.
The museum is described as quite small, occupying about one and a half rooms. This makes it a quick visit, perfect for those with limited time.
Given its small size, the museum is unlikely to get overwhelmingly crowded. However, visitor numbers can fluctuate, and during peak times, it might feel more intimate.

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Given the museum's intimate scale, it might be best suited for older children who have a genuine interest in art and history. The friendly staff could potentially engage younger visitors with stories, but the overall experience might be more rewarding for families looking for a brief, focused cultural stop rather than an extended activity. Confirming opening hours is also crucial to avoid disappointment.
🚶 Budget Travelers
However, if you're looking for a concentrated dose of Albanian art and history and are already exploring Tirana on foot, the cost might be justifiable for the unique insights it provides. It's a good option for a short visit that complements other activities in the city center, especially if you value personalized interactions with staff.

Navigating the Entrance
This discreet access means that spontaneous visits can sometimes be met with confusion or even closure, as some reviews indicate the museum was unexpectedly shut during advertised opening hours. It's a common theme in discussions about the museum: the effort to find it is part of the experience.
The Collection: Art and Antiquity
It's important to note that the exhibitions are dynamic, with changes reportedly occurring on a monthly basis. This means that each visit could offer a different experience, depending on what artists or artifacts are currently being featured. The owner, who sometimes provides enlightening tours, can offer deeper insights into the current exhibition's theme and significance.
Visitor Experience and Value
However, some reviews highlight potential drawbacks. The museum is quite small, described as one and a half rooms, which might not appeal to those seeking extensive collections. One visitor noted a rather high entrance fee of 5 Euros for the size of the space. Additionally, there have been instances of disruptive behavior from other visitors, which staff did not seem to address, detracting from the intended serene atmosphere.
