Reviews Summary

Visitors are deeply moved by the Olivo Cuatricentenario's historical significance and its symbol of resilience, despite its current health struggles. The tree's age and unique survival story are consistently highlighted as profound aspects of the visit.

"Super"

Daniel Gamarra

"I was very sad to learn that it was the only olive tree standing out of so many. King Charles III ordered all the olive trees to be cut down. Why not? 400 years, crazy, and so beautiful."

Beatriz Hebe Mansilla

"What a story there is behind this olive tree! When that evil edict issued to uproot all olive trees due to the competition it created for the production and quality of Spanish olive trees, a brave woman covered it with a baccata (the olive tree was small) and it survived! Little offspring were born from it, and all Arauco olive trees are descended from it. Synonymous with resilience!!
Now comes the ironic part... a few years ago, someone brought some olive plants from Spain, and they carried a fungus. This fungus is transmitted through the roots. To this day, all Arauco olive trees are infected with this fungus. And it's a shame, because the Arauco variety is one of the most fragrant and fleshy of the others. It's just a matter of fate, isn't it?"
