"This is Paul Hobb's winery in Valley de UCO. Hobbs arrived here in 1988, and recognized the potential for producing world class Malbec. At Vina Cobos he has produced 100 point rated wines on multiple occasions. We had a tour of the winery, and a tasting of 5 wines - a chardonnay, and 4 Malbecs. Included were two entry level Malbecs, from different parcels of land, one fruit forward, and the second with deeper dark fruit and string tannins. Then we tasted 2019 Viña Cobos Zingaretti Estate Malbec, and2021 Viña Cobos Vinculum Malbec. (Both rated 96 by James Suckling), exquisite!
The estate buildings are impressive, with four tasting rooms. The winemaking areas are spotlessly clean, in keeping with the precision of the attention to detail in the wine making. Our host was very knowledgeable and friendly."
