What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Gran Hotel Provincial offers a prime beachfront location and impressive historic architecture, but reviews frequently cite dated rooms and a need for significant upgrades. While some guests enjoy the nostalgic ambiance and good service, others find it overpriced and lacking modern amenities, with concerns about extra charges and security.
"Well the hotel is very dated. I guess it has some character. The breakfast was horrible coffee taste like toilet water and all they have is a bunch of bread and cheese. Not worth it.
I also had money stolen from my room $200. The crazy thing is that I had the sign on the door to not enter the room they still entered and that’s when the money disappeared. We complaint to the manager. She was very apologetic but we are still out $200. The money is not so much the issue. It’s the fact the people would do this and not respect the fact the we had the sign on the door to not enter and the acted like it wasn’t there, Also the only reason we picked this place its because it has a pool. Which its not free you have to pay $40 a day to use it and its very boring. Any ways better off getting a hotel without a pool and just going to one of the many day pools that you pay for which are all around."

"Wow. What a dump. Don't believe the photos. They must have been taken years ago. The place is covered in graffiti (not the good kind) and it's like a homeless shelter all around the place. Lots of people sitting around drinking and panhandling. We were surprised when we arrived. The photos online showed such a nice and beautiful place, but it wasn't, AT ALL."

"Fantastic location with direct access to the beach and pool. Service was really excellent and staff is very motivated.
Biggest issue for this hotel is the lack of investment and maintenance. The rooms are lacking the eye for detail and the entire hotel is in desperate need of a massive upgrade.
What’s great though is that you can sense the history and nostalgia. The breakfast room is impressive and the architecture is simply classic.
We used the gym a few times and also this needs a big upgrade. Basic items are missing.
Also got a massage and this is really good service for money.
Overall, would definitely recommend if you want a nice beach experience."
