What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Paseo Alameda is a vibrant avenue in Mendoza, celebrated for its diverse and generous street food offerings, particularly its famous half-meter hot dogs and pizzas. While it boasts historical significance and a lively evening atmosphere, some reviews point to a need for better maintenance of historical sites and increased safety awareness, especially after dark.
"A street with trees. Not that much to see here."
Christian Vlad
"It is one of the oldest avenues in Mendoza with a very rich history.
Our greatest hero, General San Martín, strolled there.
Our avenue once had centuries-old poplars; it owed its name to these noble trees, which, due to the work of terrible municipal officials, were all eradicated, thus losing our Paseo Alameda's essence and identity.
They could have been replaced by the children of those who gave it its name, but neglect won, and this was not carried out.
Other trees remained, whose blossoms fall, leaving the avenue dirty and sticky, making it difficult to walk.
Today, it is a promenade surrounded by many establishments selling food, drinks, etc., many of which are of dubious reputation, like many of their visitors.
The General San Martín public library, a symbol for the people of Mendoza, has been completely neglected, its facade covered with graffiti by misfits.
The century-old promenade has lost its family atmosphere, and police presence is sometimes scarce.
Today, it's not a place to recommend without making the necessary safety observations.
Our Municipality has a duty, an obligation, to recover this historic place for future generations, for tourists, and for every good citizen.
The mayor still hasn't acknowledged this despite the complaints. Total apathy!
Let's hope more is done and less is said."

"Cultural bars, Peruvian food, a pancheria with vegan hot dogs, and the San Martin General Public Library."
