Reviews Summary

Museo Güemes is praised for its high-quality, engaging multimedia exhibits and its detailed portrayal of General Güemes' life and role in Argentina's independence. While the group tour format and primary Spanish language can be drawbacks for some, the availability of QR code translations and the option to revisit exhibits offer a more personalized experience. The museum is considered a valuable educational stop for understanding the nation's history.

"Being a visitor an unknowledgeable in the history of Argentina, this museum provided some context with regards to events leading up to independence from Spain.

The museum is surprisingly large which is masked by its humble entrance. There is a small fee for admittance. The museum is all in Spanish but each exhibit/display has a QR code that provides translation in English. Exhibits are extensive. Various artifacts related to General Guemes and battles that occurred near this city of Salta. I was thoroughly impressed with the digital presentations and animatronics scattered throughout the museum that helps in keeping the attention and provides a perspective of the time period.

Touring the museum is done as a group. We came individually but was ultimately placed in a group. The pace of the reading the information and appreciating the exhibits is at a group pace rather individually.

A small gift shop is available and sell items you would expect to see include local artisanal items. Restrooms are available and are maintained to high standards.

Would recommend to visit when traveling to Salta to learn more about Argentina's independence and the role of General Guemes played in securing Argentina's northern territories."

"Very good and informative museum! There are different time slots and you will pass multiple rooms that have videos with English or French subtitles.
Definitely a recommendation if you like to learn more about Martín Miguel de Güemes and the Province."

"Meh. Too dependent on multimedia, with very few real artifacts of interest to look at. They try to force you to go through in groups (I was traveling alone and didn’t feel like being around strangers in a group), so I just ditched the group and kept moving. Not a lot to see honestly and for a high price ($8,000). It’s ironic that all of the free museums in Salta are great, but the two that charge an entry fee (this one and the ridiculously overpriced MAAM) have little to see and were my least favorite of all."
