What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Estancia La Porteña for its authentic rural Argentine experience, highlighting the warm hospitality, delicious traditional barbecue, and engaging cultural shows. The opportunity to interact with friendly animals and enjoy horseback riding are significant draws. While the rustic charm is appreciated, some guests noted areas for improvement in maintenance and cleanliness.
"My daughter and I just returned from an overnight visit to Estancia La Porteña and it was magical. If you’re looking for an authentic experience of rural Argentina, go to La Porteña. The staff were warm and welcoming, the food was delicious, the entertainment and dancing were so fun! We visited with the resident dogs who were so friendly (one with two new baby puppies that we were allowed to hold!) and we fed the horses in the corrals and every moment was special. Most people come for the day—we stayed the night in the main house—it’s rustic but comfortable and down to earth. The bed was comfy and the shower warm. If you’re wondering whether you should try this estancia, the answer is absolutely. You won’t be disappointed."

"An absolutely fantastic place! We were there for the day and thoroughly enjoyed the Dia del Campo. The service was excellent, very warm and attentive. The estancia itself is spectacular and the food and horse riding were phenomenal- I hugely recommend it to anyone!"
Nathan Ferguson
"This is a historical place, with a genuine house monument. It is really a shame that is not better maintained and preserved. The place is nice and tranquil, with several old trees providing delicious shadow. The playground for children is not functional and unsafe. Generally clean but not perfect. As said unstallations are run down. The food is OK, not particularly tasty except the sweets which are superb. Surprisingly no mate served. Show was good and informative, however a bit boring. Dancing by professionals should be included as well a horse show. The host was pleasent. Service overall good, but not excellent. This place shoild be treated as historical heritage."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Authentic Estancia Experience
Unlike modern luxury resorts, La Porteña embraces its history and rustic charm. Accommodations are described as comfortable and down-to-earth, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. The emphasis is on connection – with nature, with the animals, and with the local culture. This makes it an ideal destination for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in a simpler way of life.
The 'Dia del Campo' (Day on the Farm) is a popular way to experience the estancia, offering a taste of its core offerings. However, for a truly profound experience, an overnight stay allows guests to witness the tranquility of the countryside after the day visitors depart, fostering a deeper appreciation for the estancia's unique atmosphere.
Culinary Delights and Cultural Performances
Beyond the culinary offerings, the estancia provides a vibrant cultural immersion through its folk music and dancing performances. These shows are described as lively, engaging, and informative, showcasing Argentina's rich heritage. The inclusion of professional dancing and a horse show adds to the spectacle, making for an entertaining and educational experience for all ages.
While the food is generally praised, one reviewer noted the absence of mate, a staple Argentine drink, which might be a minor point for some. However, the overall consensus is that the dining and entertainment at La Porteña are key components of its authentic charm and a major reason for its appeal.
Interacting with Nature and Animals
The estancia is also home to friendly farm animals, including dogs and horses. Guests often have the opportunity to interact with them, such as feeding the horses or playing with the resident dogs, some of whom may even have puppies. This hands-on interaction adds a heartwarming and memorable dimension to the visit, particularly for families.
While the natural setting is a major draw, it's worth noting that some facilities, like the playground, may not be in optimal condition. However, the overall atmosphere of being surrounded by nature and the opportunity to engage with the animals more than compensate for any minor shortcomings.
