What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Llao Llao Hotel & Resort is celebrated for its absolutely stunning location with unparalleled views of the Andes and lakes. While the natural beauty and historic charm are undeniable highlights, guests frequently point out significant shortcomings in dining quality and price, as well as inconsistent service that doesn't always meet luxury expectations.
"Incredible location. Gorgeous views. Unbeatable for activities.
However, the food is horrible. It is extremely overpriced and is low quality. I highly recommend booking reservations at other restaurants and avoiding the hotel food if you stay here.
Also - the rooms are not what you expect for the price. If you stay in the old building, you can expect not to have air conditioning. There are no blinds so the sun shines in super brightly.
The concierges are not to be relied on. I multiple times confirmed with a concierge to have 2 taxis come to bring us to dinner. Then, only one cab came. I spoke to a different concierge and she told me only one cab was requested. We had to wait 25 minutes then for a taxi.
Finally, I do not recommend using the travel agency at the hotel. They have no flexibility in terms of cancellation fees and aren’t super reliable to communicate with ahead of time.
Beautiful location and views, but do not expect a five star property, food, or concierge services."

"Amazing stay! Could not be any better. We stayed at the “older” part but it was still nice and cozy. The staff seemed a bit tired though, like we had to haunt them to get attention. The ones at the marina, spa and the Patagonian restaurant delivered perfect service. But the reception, breakfast and piano bar seemed tired. Maybe they work too long shifts? But overall the experience was truly amazing! We hope to come back every year!"

"I came for a visit with a group of friends from Australia and Canada. We just wanted to know about the menu for be able to eat at the restaurant. There was a blonde security woman who was really rude to us, she even said a disrespectful comment that made us not wanting to spend our money on the hotel. I heard about the staff being unfriendly but this was our first time that someone will be really rude to us just for wanting to make a reserve to eat inside."

Navigating Service & Expectations
It's important for visitors to manage their expectations. While the hotel's location and natural beauty are undeniable, the service quality may not consistently align with a five-star rating for some guests. Being patient, clearly communicating needs, and perhaps having a translation app handy can help mitigate potential communication barriers. For those seeking impeccable service, it might be worth researching other luxury accommodations in Bariloche.
Dining Dilemmas: Quality vs. Price
Consequently, a strong recommendation from multiple reviewers is to book dinner reservations at restaurants outside the hotel. Bariloche offers a vibrant culinary scene, and exploring local eateries can provide a more authentic and satisfying dining experience at a better value. While breakfast is generally well-received, planning your other meals off-site seems to be a common strategy for guests to enhance their overall stay.
Room Realities: Comfort and Amenities
Furthermore, some guests felt the rooms were outdated, comparing them to a '1970s time capsule' with furniture from the original construction. While the hotel's historical charm is part of its appeal, the amenities and comfort levels in some rooms may not meet the expectations associated with a luxury resort. If room comfort and modern amenities are a priority, it's advisable to inquire specifically about room features and renovations when booking.
