San Ignacio on your own

Hello everyone, I‘m currently in San Pedro and planning to visit San Ignacio. We have a rental jeep so we would like to do some stuff on our own without a guide. Can places like Xunantunich Mayan Ruins or atm cave safely be done alone? If not, how can it be done in on a…

Best things to do in San Ignacio

Going to Belize soon and wondering what the best activities to do in San Ignacio, planning to go for a day and a half (one full day and a half day). Heard everyone saying ATM caves and Xunantunich were amazing. Has anyone done the cave tubing? That also seems interesting.

Tips for Xunantunich

We’ll be in San Ignacio for a week. We will not have a car. We are already paying for tours to ATM, Caracol, and Tikal. To save some money, and give us a little more freedom, could we just get a cab and go to Xunantunich, without paying for/taking a tour? And is there a cool…

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the San Ignacio Miní Jesuit Ruins for their impressive preservation and the value of the included guided tours, which offer deep historical insights. The on-site museums also add significant context to the experience. Some travelers noted issues with on-site ticket payment methods and minor solicitations in the area.

"Visiting this historic site was a fantastic experience. The ruins are incredibly well-preserved, transporting you back in time and giving you a glimpse of how the indigenous people and Jesuits lived 400 years ago.

We were lucky to arrive just as the guided tour (included at no extra cost) was starting. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the site’s history and the region as a whole. The site also features two small museums, one near the entrance and another near the exit, which added even more context to the visit.

The only downside is that the ticket office doesn’t accept credit cards. If you prefer paying that way, you’ll need to purchase your tickets online."

Rafael Filipak Siqueira

"Where you feel God’s presence, you are in a blessed site. No words can describe the feeling!!!"

Luis Silva

"Interesting place. The town parking guys charge for parking but then retrieve the receipts so they can pocket the money. Smart con move. You will be pestered for money from young dirty kids. Good job on restoration work inside."
