Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning beauty of Cascada Aguas Chiquitas and the rewarding, albeit challenging, hike. The waterfall itself is a major highlight, offering a beautiful natural pool for swimming. However, many note the trail's difficulty and lack of maintenance, with some recommending a guide for safety. A significant concern is the amount of litter left by some visitors, detracting from the pristine environment.

"The trek is difficult, but it's totally worth it. You'll notice it when you arrive and see the impressive waterfall, over 50 meters high. It's perfect for a day out with friends, family, or a couple to enjoy nature."

Karen Valdez

"The Aguas Chiquitas waterfall trail is located in El Cadillal. You can drive to the beginning of a road approximately 1 km long that leads to the trailhead.
Upon reaching the trail, you'll find signs from #TurismoTucumán specifying that climbing along the river is not permitted and that the corresponding trail is of high difficulty and must be done with a guide. We went with #Yoextremo, with Guadalupe. A very knowledgeable and responsible guide for this activity. However, we didn't see any guides during the trail and on-site; people do it alone. While it's possible, it's not recommended. It's not that you'll get lost, but the risk lies in the trail itself.
It's 4.2 km one-way, a steady climb. The first 500 meters are practically a climb; there are no ladders or ropes to hold on to. The trail is not maintained in that section. The rest of the trail is uphill, smooth, and at times becomes rough, but accessible for about 3 km of medium difficulty. The entire trail is well marked and signposted, although vandalism is noticeable. The last kilometer is steep and very dangerous. There are no ropes, railings, or wooden steps, neither logs nor natural ones. ZERO maintenance. You can only grab onto branches or roots; you descend practically squatting backward, on all fours, or however you can. Don't rush. Go slowly.
It's worth all the effort. It's an incredible place, a beautiful natural pool, warm waters, and a gorgeous waterfall between 15 and 20 meters high.
You can swim, stand under it, relax, enjoy, and be grateful for this wonder that nature has given us.
To anyone who goes, go in the morning, allow between 2 and 3 hours there and 2 to 3 hours back. Take into account the weather, wind, and rain. Don't go, and please take your trash with you. There's a lack of awareness. Please, Tucumán, take responsibility. They have some incredible natural wonders. Take care of them!"

"It's a beautiful place for a getaway with friends or a couple, and for trekking enthusiasts. I've been there twice, and on the second occasion, I found the trail to be very unkempt, which made the hike difficult.
I recommend bringing plenty of water, especially on very hot days. It's important to wear appropriate footwear and, if possible, bring a rope for the more difficult sections of the trail.
The hike takes about two hours and is difficult, so it's not for everyone. But if you take it easy and rest during certain stretches, you'll find a gem."
