What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning natural beauty of Balneario Icho Cruz, particularly the crystal-clear, calm waters of the San Antonio River, making it ideal for families. However, the high parking fees and very limited, often unhygienic, facilities are significant drawbacks that detract from the overall experience for many.
"A beautiful place. The San Antonio River is magical. It has small pools and other areas with sand and shallow water. The coast, a beach, has sand in some areas and well-maintained grass in others. The only thing that's extremely expensive is the parking lot, which offers absolutely nothing. This year, they added chemical restrooms, which are very few and unusable due to the lack of hygiene. It's incomprehensible why they charge 10,000 pesos to park your car in the Río del Sol. It's an abuse and inconsiderate of those of us who want and choose to vacation in our wonderful country.
Otherwise, nature is wonderful."

The San Antonio River Experience
While the natural beauty is undeniable, it's important to be aware of the limited amenities. Unlike more developed tourist spots, Balneario Icho Cruz prioritizes a natural setting. This means you won't find extensive facilities like multiple restrooms or snack bars. The emphasis is on enjoying the pristine environment as it is. This tranquility, however, is a major draw for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from bustling crowds.
For those planning a visit, packing essentials like water, snacks, and sun protection is highly recommended. The experience is about immersing yourself in nature, and being prepared ensures a comfortable and enjoyable day by the river. The natural landscapes surrounding the river also contribute to the serene atmosphere, making it a picturesque destination for a day trip.
Navigating Parking and Facilities
Beyond parking, the on-site facilities are also a point of concern for some. Reports indicate that there is typically only one bathroom available, and its hygiene standards have been questioned by visitors. The absence of nearby kiosks or shops further emphasizes the need for visitors to be self-sufficient. This lack of amenities is a trade-off for the natural, less commercialized environment that many visitors seek.
Despite these drawbacks, the overwhelming sentiment is that the natural beauty of Balneario Icho Cruz compensates for the infrastructural limitations. The advice from those who have visited is to come prepared with all necessities, from food and drinks to personal hygiene items, to fully enjoy the serene river setting without relying on the scarce facilities.
