"I had a deeply disappointing experience at Mandara Spa, Aruba, which I feel compelled to share. My two daughters and I each booked and paid in advance for Deep Tissue massages. During my treatment, I was offered a $30 foot treatment add-on, which I agreed to. The therapist also said he would “compliment” the massage with hot stones—no mention of a price. At the end, I was charged $42, not the $30 I had agreed to.
Even worse, both of my daughters were pressured into getting hot stones after their therapists told them that “mommy and your sister were getting them.” They were never informed of a charge and felt uncomfortable refusing. No prices were disclosed, and they did not consent to being upsold.
When I addressed this at the front desk, the staff was completely dismissive. They simply stated the hot stone add-on was $42, with no apology or acknowledgment of the clear miscommunication and unethical sales tactics."
