What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the relaxing environment and natural beauty of the Abercrombie Caves reserve, with its bushwalking trails and wildlife spotting opportunities. The facilities are generally clean and well-maintained, making it a good spot for picnics and camping. However, the current closure of the caves for restoration means the primary attraction is inaccessible, which is a significant drawback for many planning a visit.
"It's a nice place to visit, very relaxing environment before entering the cave, and several 3km bush walks are available if the cave doesn't catch your interest.
The self guided tour is currently unavailable, but a free guided tour runs at 1pm daily instead. The road to the caves is sealed all the way but very narrow at times with many blind corners. On the way back towards the main road we spotted a lyre bird which was a bonus."

"I visited this place one day before covid lockdowns in Sydney. This is a great place to visit for walks and though I did not get inside the caves I will definitely go back to have a look. If you want to either come for a picnic of which there is picnic facilities or camping there is good facilities here including cabin options to stay in, camping grounds and toilets and showers. There is tapes if you need to fill up for water, but bring your own food and firewood and drinks. I think it’s a good safe camping area. My son got pretty close to some of the wild kangaroos in the area. And there is a beautiful little river that runs through the area. Be careful driving in as though it is two way lane the roads are quite narrow."

"Great place, good clean facilities, recommend the guided tour. If you're going in the heat of summer suggest grabbing an area with plenty of all day shade."
