Many highlight the joy of feeding and interacting with rays and sharks. Some reviewers noted that visibility in the lagoons could be better and that booking issues can arise, but overall, the experience is highly recommended for its educational and engaging marine life interactions.
"i love stingrays!! they're my favourite underwater creature so this experience was perfect for me. The guys (both human and ray) in the Ray pools were very friendly and educational. Really enjoyed the talk at 12:20pm, learned lots of new things. I didn't know Rays could asexually reproduce! I really liked that the feeding is included in the price, it was very nice to just get handed more food unprompted. Most places would charge extra for that. Anyway good experience overall and I LOVE STINGRAYS!!!"

"This was a fantastic opportunity to be interactive and up close with sting rays and sharks.
We got to feed the animals and touch them. The staff were very passionate, proud and informative on their talks on these creatures. I learnt a lot of interesting information.
If you are keen, (i wasnt), you can get in the water with the sting ray, sharks and turtles.
This place exceeded my expectations and I would go back again.
There is plenty of parking and easy to get around.
There is even space to take a picnic lunch and sit in the grounds."

Understanding the Irukandji Jellyfish
These jellyfish are a significant concern for swimmers and beachgoers in northern Australia, and awareness campaigns often highlight their presence. The Irukandji jellyfish's sting is characterized by delayed onset of symptoms, including intense pain, nausea, vomiting, and a feeling of impending doom. It's important to distinguish between the threat of the Irukandji jellyfish and the experience offered at the Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters, which focuses on safe and educational interactions with sharks and rays.
Visitors to the facility can enjoy a safe and controlled environment, learning about marine life without the risks associated with encountering venomous creatures in the wild. The focus is on conservation and positive interaction, a stark contrast to the dangers posed by the actual Irukandji jellyfish.
Interactive Marine Encounters
For the more adventurous, the Reef Shark Snorkel allows you to swim alongside reef sharks in their naturalistic lagoon environment. This experience is often described as thrilling and awe-inspiring, with sharks swimming all around. Wetsuits are provided, ensuring comfort and safety during these aquatic adventures. The Zebra Shark Encounter offers a chance to get up close with these distinctive-looking sharks, learning about their habits and conservation needs.
Even if you opt for the Discovery Pass without dedicated encounters, you still get to participate in feedings and observe the animals closely. The venue emphasizes that animals have the space to disengage if they wish, ensuring interactions are never forced and always prioritize the animals' well-being. This commitment to ethical animal encounters is a recurring positive theme in visitor feedback.

Visitors can hike to the summit of Mt Tomaree for panoramic views, try sandboarding on the Stockton Sand Dunes, or enjoy dolphin watching cruises.
