"Great way of travelling to city. Its a small wharf with a community feel which includes a library of books to read while waiting and on the ferry. Ferries to Circular Quay come once an hour in non-peak times and there's also a service to Cockatoo Island"
Stuart C (BKK)
"Lovely Wharf. Large selection of books waiting to be swapped and read. Nice view to CBD skyline and harbour bridge."

"A very small wharf located in the inner west of Sydney. It doesn’t have too many services (only the routes to Circular Quay and Cockatoo Island, I believe) and if you miss one ferry, you’ll generally have to wait an hour or so (when not at peak times).
Other than the size, it’s quite a nice wharf as it has the Community Library attached. Basically, people donate books and you can borrow them or take one for your ride, or donate your own books! It’s a bit disorganised at the moment as they have a LOT of books so they’re trying to find someone to maintain it, but I found that it was a great initiative and good way to spend some time while waiting for your ferry to come hahah.
As long as you’re on time for the ferry, this is a great wharf to be at. A good view of the Harbour Bridge, and the unique opportunity to use the community library. (Be aware that parking is relatively limited, so come early)"

The Charm of Balmain East Wharf
While it's a smaller wharf with fewer services compared to major hubs, its charm lies in its local feel. Services primarily connect to Circular Quay and Cockatoo Island. It's important to note that ferry frequency can be limited outside of peak times, sometimes running only once an hour, so checking the timetable is crucial to avoid extended waits. Parking is also scarce, so public transport or ride-sharing is often the most practical way to arrive.
Navigating Sydney Ferries from Balmain East
When planning your trip, ferry timetables are essential. Services to Circular Quay, for instance, might only run hourly during non-peak periods.
