"Mov'In Bed was a good experience in general. The bed we chose though was uncomfy, staff should be fixing it at the start to make sure the beds are stuffed properly (most of the stuffing was already at the feet area not the head bit). That's the only complain I have. Location was fabulous, The Crown isn't really a nice backdrop, you wouldnt think buildings around will be nice to be surrounding you too, but just the bright "very open" vibe refreshing feel made it good for me. Good idea on the headphones, better than having poor soundsystem for a big residential commercial area. They had glitches with just 1 scanner working but it didn't affect us cos we were there first LOL Food wasn't that great though :( Staff are very nice and friendly."

Whilst I enjoyed the vibes coming early for the event to claim a bed, the sound system was not working for all guests and there was no communication about it from staff. Ultimately, there was NO MOVIE PLAYED

There was a sound testing opportunity about 10min before the movie was supposed to start (8:15pm) and it appeared that nobody was able to hear anything except some music that was previously played before the movie. When talking to the floor staff there, they told myself and multiple guests “there is no way that all of them are not working” and “if you can hear music you can hear the movie”. Putting trust in what they said we returned back to our bed.

The movie started and everyone clearly was NOT able to hear anything from the headphones. There was no communication from staff of what was going on and the movies visuals kept playing. When we visited the staff at the back, they were not very helpful and they stated “there is a general issue” but hadn’t told the rest of the audience this information.

When wanting to talk to a manager or staff of more power, I asked the staff and they told me the manager is in a blue shirt working at the pizza stall. THERE WAS NO LADY. and when I told them, they stated that they have no idea where their manager is. The staff had no clue what was going on, and took no action to fix things by communicating with all guests, or even deciding to ultimately cancel the event.

It was raining and guests expected the movie to play at 8:15. The staff were telling us that the movie would play in 5min but it never did. About an hour later and THERE WAS STILL NO MOVIE. it was raining, nothing was working and there was still no cancellation. People time was gone.

About an hour later myself and about half of audience left the venue with NO MOVIE PLAYED, NO COMMUNICATION, and a little email to complain with no guarantee for a full refund.

THERE WAS NO MOVIE, NO COMMUNICATION. MYSELF AND ALL ATTENDEES DESERVE A FULL REFUND."

"I was really looking forward to this event as part of a friend’s birthday celebration, but unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. Sydney has experienced a week of severe storms and strong winds, and on Saturday 29 November the conditions were especially bad. Even upon entry, staff mentioned they couldn’t set out blankets or pillows due to the wind, which should have been an early indication that the event might not be suitable to proceed.

We entered right at the 6pm opening, excited to enjoy the evening, but the wind was so strong that the sand used for the event was blowing directly into guests. It felt like we were being repeatedly hit by sand, and despite trying to shield ourselves with blankets, the wind continued to lift them off and blow sand into our faces, eyes, and mouths. We attempted to stay for almost two hours so we could watch the movie, but the conditions only worsened.

Many guests around us were also forced to leave. The family in front of us had sand blown through all of their food, and their child was crying from the discomfort of the sand hitting his skin. A pregnant woman seated behind us tried to endure the conditions as long as she could, but eventually left as well. Clearly, the environment was not appropriate or safe for attendees.

Given how severe the weather was, I genuinely believe the event should have been postponed or cancelled. Staff appeared to be struggling with the wind themselves, yet the safety and comfort of guests did not seem to be acknowledged. The wind was so strong that parts of the sand flooring had blown away completely, exposing the ground beneath, and even one of the beds in front of us was lifted from its anchor.

I strongly recommend that organisers reconsider the use of loose sand for this event. Grass or artificial turf would significantly reduce issues caused by wind. Based on other reviews mentioning the same concerns, it seems this feedback has been raised before but not acted on.

Overall, I feel disappointed and let down by the experience. It was not enjoyable, my friend’s birthday was impacted, and I do not feel the event provided value for money under these unsafe and uncomfortable conditions. I would not return unless significant improvements are made."
