Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for its intimate animal encounters, particularly with wombats and kangaroos, and its dedication to wildlife rescue. The friendly staff and the unique vegan cafe add to the positive experience. Some note the sanctuary is relatively small and can be explored quickly, and that kangaroos may be full later in the day.

"Had an amazing experience doing the night tour. One of the most memorable experiences from my trip to Tasmania. From getting up close to the kangaroos (feeding and petting), feeding the echidnas, and seeing the wombats and Tasmanian Devils; every moment was memorable.

It was also great to get to learn about the work being done at the sanctuary, such as their rescue and rehabilitation efforts, alongside their ambitions for the future.

I cannot overstate how much I recommend doing the night tour ; it's more than worth the price (and it supports the incredible work being done at Bonorong)."

"Bonorong Night Tour

I booked the night tour for my son and myself in advance, as other visitors recommended doing so because tickets are limited.
The sanctuary is a rescue centre and hospital for wild animals, and the money from ticket sales helps support their care and rehabilitation.

Bonorong felt different from similar places we’ve visited in the past, mainly because of its smaller size and its focus on Tasmania’s unique wildlife.
It was truly an amazing experience to be surrounded by hundreds of kangaroos, hand-feeding them and giving them a gentle pat — they are incredibly soft and surprisingly cuddly!

For the first time, we were able to see Tasmanian devils awake and very active.
There are also two adorable wombats, several species of marsupials, and many types of Tasmanian wild birds.

But the most memorable part of the tour for us was meeting two rescued echidnas — one injured in a car accident and the other bitten by a dog. As a result, one is blind and the other has lost a leg. These extraordinary little creatures were an absolute delight to watch, feed, and observe. Their personalities are truly charming.

Our host was very friendly and informative, which made the tour even more enjoyable."

"We had a FANTASTIC visit! The sanctuary has a nice variety of animals who have been rescued. They offer free tours, which I highly recommend. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable and took her time to answer all of the questions.

The kangaroo area was a blast. There are about 100 kangaroos laying about waiting for a nice scratch and the sanctuary provides snacks for you to feed them.

The Tasmanian Devils were a real treat as well."
