Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for its intimate animal encounters, particularly with wombats and kangaroos, and its dedication to wildlife rescue. The friendly staff and the unique vegan cafe add to the positive experience. Some note the sanctuary is relatively small and can be explored quickly, and that kangaroos may be full later in the day.

"Had a really lovely Sunday at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. It was peaceful and not too busy, so we could take our time with the animals. The staff were welcoming and shared little bits of information that made the visit feel personal and memorable.

We also stopped in at the café nook, which was such a nice surprise. It’s fully vegan, but even as someone who isn’t vegan, the food felt really approachable and satisfying — the kind of dishes anyone could enjoy. The staff were kind and took the time to explain the menu, including gluten-free choices, which made it easy. It was the perfect way to finish the visit.

A thoughtful, relaxed place to spend a Sunday — highly recommend."

"This wildlife sanctuary was quite well maintained and curated for the size. It's pretty small though and only takes under an hour to explore slowly. There are an impressive number of free range kangaroos but they're totally lacking interest in the food given to feed them as everyone gets a free bag. They were already full at 10:30am on a weekday.

Probably the best part about this sanctuary is how close and visible the wildlife is, and how placid and portable the kangaroos are. You can pat them easily as they're all laying around."

Steph Barr

"During the school holidays it was paying adult & 2 children under 15 get in for free. Nice surprise.

Not from Australia so being able to see Wombats, Tasmania Devils and Kangaroos up close was awesome!
Lucy the goose was a favourite.

Feeding and patting Kangaroos is definitely a must have experience.

Lovely sunny day for walking around the sanctuary. They are doing great work.

Clean facilities- friendly staff - great place to spend 2 hours or so."
