Reviews Summary

Most visitors rave about the incredible marine life encounters, with many spotting dolphins, whales, and turtles up close. The guides are frequently praised for their expertise and ability to make the tours fun and memorable. However, a few reviews highlight negative experiences with staff, citing rudeness and poor handling of difficult situations, which significantly impacted their visit.

"We didn’t see dolphins and turtles, but we saw so many whales during this tour. Mum and baby whales came very close to our kayaks and it was absolutely magical moment. Honestly kayak tour was better than whale watching tour !! If you’re coming to Byron during the winter, highly recommend to do this tour 🐋"

Jin N

"Couldn’t ask for more! Big pod of dolphins swimming right by us! Great leadership from the guides. No fuss, clear instructions, we had a great time. Thanks!"

Nadia Anslow

"My god, I don’t know where to start. I was so excited and it all came crashing down due to rude, bullying staff.
I got thrown out of my kayak on a particularly rough day, and I was with a friend and a group who were all struggling to get past the waves. I got hit a few times by rough waves and the kayak and even my friend was struggling to control the boat and stand up and remain in control. I was screamed at to stand up even though I was struggling and disorientated. I am a capable swimmer and just needed a minute to get my bearings and start again.
I then tried again and was told I had to leave the sea and go back because ‘how are you meant to stay in the kayak for two and a half hours if you can’t stay in for two minutes’. I understand but it didn’t need to be shouted in that way. The staff member then made a radio call saying I was too large and too weak. He made me walk up the beach alone and dripping wet, exhausted to meet a member of his team who made a horrible comment when I was clearly upset. I was made to walk back two minutes and collect my paddle, as if I wasn’t humiliated enough.
The person on the beach said ‘you’re what we call a pub person, the pub is over there’. She opened the cabin so I could retrieve my belongings and then closed it and drove off.
This was my first day in Byron Bay, I am a young adult female and had no idea where I was going. Not once did either member of staff ask if i needed help or even if I was ok. They left me on the side of the road with no dry items, dripping wet. They didn’t even tell me which bus to get back to the hostel.
I left humiliated, cold, and miserable and had very high anxiety for the rest of the week. I can’t even walk past the cabin as this makes me anxious and upset.
I will probably never kayak again. I was also told I would not get a refund even though I was willing to try and I was told to leave the water."
