Reviews Summary

Spice Alley is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, diverse and affordable pan-Asian street food, and colorful, lantern-lit ambiance. Visitors love the sensory experience and the opportunity to sample a wide range of flavors. However, some find certain dishes to be a bit pricey for the portion size, and the alley can get extremely crowded, making it challenging to navigate and find seating during peak times.

"You bring Singapore to Sydney!
The place is not hard to find. Just across UTS and so close to Central station.

I love this place! You can find affordable south east Asian food of your choice here. And of course they are delicious. The portion is quite smaller compared with other places, but this is good because you can have more of different options here!

I tried penang char kwetiau, roti with curry and fried chicken, and pork fried rice. Omg, so full! The penang char kwetiau is good, not spicy even tho I see some cut chili in there. Not too oily too. The fried rice is also good, my child love it, with crispy pork belly and fried egg. But the star for me is the roti! I love it!"

"The place is easy to find with limited parking. There is however a tram station about 5 minutes up the road.

There is several resturants here both fancy and street food style. They have Mexican, burgers, Italian, Chinese, Malaysian, Vietnamese and more.

The food is reasonable priced and served more like a canteen but it doesn't make the food any less appetising.

They do serve alcohol and normal soft drinks. They also have a few small dessert options.

Couldn't reccomend this place enough."

"Spice Ally is a cool place & perfect if you like Asian street food - plus it's a good selection of dishes & quite affordable. It's located in the alleys right near UTS. It's nicely arranged along the promenade, decorated with Asian colored lamps & with parasols.

Here you will find Thai, Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese & Singaporean among others, everything from sushi, dumplings & lots of different meat options. You order drinks in a special bar with wine & beer.

The food is amazing, varied, well-cooked & tasty. You can afford to order a few different small dishes & try the abundant food selection.

It's a must visit if you're in Sydney, easy to find from Central Station. It’s not far from Broadway shopping centre. It was very crowded during the weekend but great vibe. Much calmer on a weekday when we went for lunch."

The best time for photography is often during the 'golden hour' just before sunset, when the lanterns begin to glow, creating a magical atmosphere. Evenings, when the lights are fully on, offer a vibrant and colorful backdrop. TikTok

The entire alley is photogenic! Focus on capturing the colorful lanterns, the steam rising from food stalls, the diverse signage, and the lively interactions between people. The narrowness of the alley itself creates interesting perspectives. TikTok

Given the often low-light conditions and vibrant colors, a camera with good low-light performance is beneficial. Consider using a wider aperture to capture the ambiance and a slightly higher ISO if needed. A tripod can help with sharper shots in dimmer light, but it can be challenging to use in crowded conditions. TikTok

Drone photography is generally not permitted in built-up urban areas like Spice Alley due to safety regulations and privacy concerns. Always check local drone laws and regulations before attempting to fly a drone in Sydney. TikTok

The visual appeal comes from the dense arrangement of colorful food stalls, the iconic red lanterns strung overhead, the vibrant street art, and the general hustle and bustle. It's a sensory overload that translates beautifully into photographs. TikTok
