What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia for its stunning harbour views, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere, particularly its connection to the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. However, the club's strict card-only payment policy and potential surcharges are a recurring point of contention for some patrons.
"I was going to have lunch with a friend at the rolex Sydney Hobart Bar & Dining, but extensive renovations are being done at the moment. Apparently according to their official website the rolex bar and restaurant is still open. But we decided not to eat here due to the extreme noise and loss of the views over Rushcutters Bay. The rolex bar which serves as the main dining and bar area at CYCA, is open every day with set hours for breakfast and all-day dining. The club is generally accessible within those hours, though visitor access may be restricted by NSW's Registered Clubs Act if you live within 5 km of the club—unless you’re with a member, are a member of another registered club, or are attending for a sailing event ."

"Located at 1 New Beach Road, Darling Point, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. I have been here several times because the group I sail with leaves and returns to this Marina so it is easier and more convenient to grab a bite from the club. I have no problems with the prices and the wait staff are accommodating and friendly. The food is lovely and flavourful. My issue is the fact that the club won’t take cash, only debit or credit card even though cash is legal tender, but still charge a surcharge on each transaction. I understood the not taking cash through lockdown but there’s really no excuse now, especially if you’re going to charge a surcharge on the only option you’re offering to pay. The club itself is very welcoming and beautifully decorated. I do have a lovely time when I come. Aside from the ‘NO CASH’ factor, it’s a great club and have always enjoyed coming back. It’s also great that it’s a 🐶 friendly club. It’s wonderful to come to the club that the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race starts at. Thumbs Up! 👍👍👍"

"Great spot for drinks near the marinas on the north shore, though there are limited options for non-alcoholic cocktails.
Friendly staff.
It’s a club so ID is required to get in the restaurant.
Street parking is available, but finding a spot can be tricky at certain times of the day."
