"I was 30 back in 2003 when I rocked up in Sydney with just a backpack. Ended up crashing at a hostel in the city and absolutely fell in love with the place. At the time, I was big into long-distance running and one day I thought, “Why not train for a marathon?” So I did. Three solid months of hardcore training, no booze, no junk food, just full-on dedication like a true athlete.
Race day came, and that night my freinds at the hostel pulled a cheeky surprise and took me to Govindas. The food was bloody delicious and they were screening The Lord of the Rings.
The cinema was so comfy I conked out right at the start, my body was knackered and those cushions were way too good to resist. Honestly, I can’t recommend that spot enough. Happy to hear it’s still kicking!
