Checked out the Environs of Pine Creek Today. First stop was a disused Gold Mine that they filled in with water. Then out to Umbrawarra Gorge Nature Park. Drove along around 25 klms of corrugated red dirt road, so there goes the ole car wash. Took it easy just cruising along not punishing the car. The walk in was marvellous, very easy in comparison to JimJim Falls, and wonderful with all the nati...

We are on the gorge trail in the NT. Swimming at Umbrawarra Gorge Nature Park today. Located 1/2 hr south of Pine Creek, 20 k's of good dirt road and 20 minutes walking and rock hopping gets you to this little piece of paradise. In Wagiman country, this is a beautiful place, with some protected ancient rock art adorning cliff faces as well (no photos permitted). C Me in the NT

Reviews Summary

Visitors find Umbrawarra Gorge Nature Park a beautiful and nice place, particularly enjoying the gorge's swimming spots and the scenic walk. While some find the swimming less spectacular than other NT locations, the accessibility via dirt road and the simple campsite are appreciated. Concerns are raised about the campsite size and the accident-prone nature of the gorge's edges, but overall, it's recommended for its natural charm and cultural significance.

"This place was so nice and beautiful! Great little hike to the top of the hill for morning sunrise and sunset. The water holes at the gorge was easily enough to walk towards however for elderly people I do not recommend as it can be very accident prone, our group had a few slips and falls but can easily recover from. The swimming spots were okay but isn’t something worth going back a second time for compared to other places. The camp site felt small especially when it’s full, I feel like they could definitely expand it a lot more but that isn’t a discouragement. You can end up being close to another group, and we were quite loud so sorry to the campers near by. Drop toilet was not that bad thought it would stink a lot more but it was definitely usable. Overall would recommend you to go here if you have not been yet. Loved every experience from it. Would be 5 star if the camp grounds were bigger."

"Came in the late dry season (September). Road still very accessible even for 2WD. Seems newy graded r kept in good nick.
Campsite is great simple place to spend overnight en route to Katherine / Darwin.
Gorge is beautiful and water still remains for swimming in further pool.
Rock art site (women’s country) up on escarpment. Reminder to respect cultural law and not take photos or explore the restricted areas if a male."
