"I discovered this fabulous gallery online several months ago, and made a point of visiting it in person (twice!) when I was staying in Tamworth recently. To say the least, I am impressed! Weswal Gallery is beautiful; it is located in a gorgeous spot near the Tamworth Botanic Gardens and lookout, and is without a doubt as good as many similar galleries in much bigger centres. They concentrate on support and display of local works; judging from what I saw, the Tamworth district has a plethora of talented artists in many modalities! However, Weswal doesn't feature locals to the exclusion of "outsiders", especially with paintings. I bought myself a print which caught my eye online (it's even better "in the canvas"), as well as some locally made ceramics and woodcrafts for Christmas gifts. There is a comprehensive range of works to suit most budgets available, and one can purchase online.
The gallery is spacious, artworks are creatively displayed, the lady on duty when I was there was lovely; really helpful and friendly, and obviously enthusiastic about the gallery and her work there. I absolutely love it, and will ensure I visit next time I'm in Tamworth. Weswal is not to be missed if you love art, and are visiting beautiful Tamworth! I do hope that the adjoining Weswal Cafe will have reopened next time I visit."
