Reviews Summary

Yilki Encounter Bay Precinct is cherished for its stunning coastal location and nostalgic country store charm, with many praising the friendly staff and excellent chips. However, some visitors have raised concerns about food freshness and perceived high prices, with a few reporting negative experiences regarding hygiene and food quality.

"Have called in here many times. Staff are always very friendly. Some of the best chips we've ever had, always good. Very nice chicken wraps and tuna wraps too. An old-style country store with lots of character and the location is absolutely stunning. Sit on the verandah and watch the waves rolling in. Look south down to The Bluff, north to Granite Island and the majestic old Norfolk Island pines along the town foreshore. What more could you ask for?"

"Great to re-discover this little store which I remember from my visits as a child, about 65 years ago. So pleased to see it's still here.
The food was excellent - in a couple of visits I had toasted sandwiches, and fish and chips.
Maybe a tiny bit pricey, but worth it for the food quality, the lovely friendly service, and the happy memories of my childhood."

"DISGUSTING
Unsanitary, disgusting, overpriced and stale.
Their offers are horrible, and 90% of them are frozen. I don’t know what any of this “delivered fresh” nonsense is, but it certainly isn’t true. Its like they take your food directly from the freezer and put it on your plate, so it arrives still thawing. The chips are stale and overpriced, not to mention the drinks. $20 for a sad, flat “deluxe” burger that looks like it was salvaged from the landfill? No thanks.

The wait time was awful, too. Not just once either. They weren’t even busy, just slow.

I was once there and I saw them literally DROP a piece of ham on the ground, and instead of throwing it away, they picked it up and CONTINUED USING IT. Mind you, their floors aren’t sanitary in the slightest, I could literally see the dirt. I’m convinced they’d have to regularly scrape the dirt, grime and grease off their floors with metal tools.

This place is feral. Where are the health inspections and food safety measures?

TL;DR:
98% of the food is frozen. 100% is unsanitary. DISGUSTING, do not recommend until changes are made."
