I’ve been to Perry Lakes Reserve quite a few times now—weekdays when it’s quiet and still, and weekends when there’s a steady hum of families, dog walkers, and joggers passing by. No matter when we go, the one thing that always stops me is the way the light filters through the trees. It’s beautiful—sunbeams cutting through the canopy, making the whole place feel peaceful and grounded.
The layout of the park makes it easy to wander without a plan. There are wide open lawns, shady walking paths, and two natural lakes where you can spot ducks, turtles, and the occasional purple swamphen. I’ve seen bird watchers set up along the banks with their long lenses, but even if you’re not into that, just walking the loop gives you a quiet appreciation for the wildlife.
It’s a great spot for families—there are multiple playground areas, including some that are accessible and shaded. On weekends, you’ll usually hear the laughter of kids zipping by on bikes or scooters, but there’s so much space that it never feels crowded. There are picnic tables tucked under trees, clean toilets, and BBQs that actually work—so it’s easy to make a day of it.
