"you get to know the origin of the hahndorf here, why Hahndorf would become the first german town in australia, Hahndorf's early pioneer settlers were refugees from religious persecution in the Silesian area of Prussia (north-eastern Germany)in 1838.
as in other small towns with a German heritage, some of the townspeople suffered from anti-German prejudice during the First World War. Across South Australia many German-Australians changed their surnames, and a total of 69 places of German origin were renamed. In 1917 Hahndorf became Ambleside. the town reverted to its original name in 1935, in recognition of the contribution, to the state, of its German pioneers.
you found out more history in here, and many old stuffs displayed too, quite a good place to visit in Hahndorf we’ve missed last time>"
