"We didn't go inside but enjoyed the garden outside on a sunny February day ...just loved it so clean and well maintained"

"Centrally located and easily accessible to locals and tourists alike. Tours run twice a day on “non-sitting weekdays”(check the calendar online). We popped in the day before to ask about the tours and the receptionist both kindly explained the relevant information and also put down on the schedule to alert the guide we would be back the next day. Come a bit early to pass through an easy security check point (bag scan and metal detector).
We were given a tour by Charles who immediately showed his knowledge and passion for all things Tasmanian heritage, beginning our tour in a gallery of government and cultural artefacts, explaining the history of the building itself. Highly recommend him as a guide.
The tours are a great choice for a spare hour in the city for anyone interested in history, but also great as a primer on the system of government for new Tasmanians, foreign visitors, or children! Charles thoroughly explained the roles and proceedings of each house of parliament and how they pertain to the outcomes of government!
(P.S., those on tours are welcome to take photos anywhere outside of the security/ entry reception)"

"I've now done a tour at all 6 state parliaments and Tasmania is one of the best for both historical interest and beautiful architecture. The staff were very friendly and happy to answer any questions. You are allowed to take photos, even in the Speaker's and President's chairs! Each room visited is completely different from the previous one and has its own unique history. The Legislative Council chamber and the convict-built basement were my favourite parts. I also enjoyed learning about the unique features of Tasmania's political system compared to the other states. No need to book a tour as an individual visitor but do call ahead to confirm a tour is running as scheduled so you don't miss out on this amazing place."
