What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the spectacular panoramic views of Cairns and the coastline, especially during sunrise. While the free access and stunning scenery are major draws, some note that parking is limited and the dense rainforest can occasionally obstruct the vista. The winding drive up the Kuranda Range is also a memorable part of the experience.
"Great place to stop on the way to Kuranda to view Cairns and the coast. It can be a little tricky turning in going up the mountain as it is on the right hand side of the road, so take care and make sure you take the first entrance. Same when exiting, take care. Definitely a great view."

"Great view, a must do for anyone visiting Cairns. It's free and it has a bin. I was upset to see rubbish around the area however I was informed of a recent landslide that took the bin. So I can't fault them for the enormous task of cleaning after a cyclone. Very happy to see this"

"Definitely a top spot to look down to the tropical paradise that is Cairns. Look over the Northern edge of Cairns City to glimpses of Trinity Beach and Yorkeys Knob. Across rainforest, over Smithfield, canefields, jumbo jets of eager tourists flying in to exotic sandy beaches opening on to the pleasure of cruisers enjoying the Great Barrier Reef.
Unfortunately it is the major attraction the lush rainforest trees themselves that lets you down. Basically you cannot see a lot of the view for the trees. Parking is very limited and re-entering traffic is really running the gauntlet, quite risky. Renewal and reinvention and a good re-think of this unique, gorgeous but increasingly inaccessible site should be demanded by the people of Cairns who hold Henry Ross Lookout in a special place in their hearts."
