Reviews Summary

The Macquarie University Library, including the Waranara Library and Lachlan Macquarie Room, is appreciated for its beautiful design, ample natural light, and diverse study spaces. However, some visitors note issues with staff helpfulness, occasional cleanliness concerns like bin flies, and the lack of public Wi-Fi access for non-students.

"I’m really disappointed with the level of service I’ve experienced at the Macquarie University Library. The staff have often been quite rude and uncooperative, which makes it difficult to ask for help or clarification. Instead of offering support or guidance, they seem impatient and unwilling to assist students with their needs.

A university library should be a welcoming and helpful environment where students feel comfortable seeking assistance — unfortunately, that hasn’t been my experience here. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and provides better training to ensure staff treat students with respect and professionalism."

"The number of bin flies in the library is disturbing. This is downstairs floor of the library - they are everywhere somehow inside of a library that is downstairs and closed area (and now, they are literally everywhere - I've moved spots like 5 times to the upstairs area as well and there's still flies around). Maybe use pesticide or fix the bins by putting a lid because they are breeding so many flies. And, why am I so annoyed? It's because the flies get in your hair and make your hair itchy - literally everyone around me I see is scratching their hairs because of all the grease and dirt brought over by the flies in their hair. Imagine the decomposing bacteria and pathogens from the bin spreading all over your hair and body.

Otherwise, the library itself is okay - some tables are a bit worn down and need to be cleaned though."

"Lovely experience. I love how the space is thoughtfully divided into a quiet area and regular areas for activities. The only issue is that the grounded charging port makes it challenging for Mac users to plug in their laptop chargers because there isn’t enough room to fit the whole adapters."
