Happy International Sauvignon Blanc Day🥂 I was put to the test… tasting our Bec Hardy 1885 compared to our Pertaringa Scarecrow, both great wines but a subtle difference… Are you a Sauv Blanc fan? Reckon you could taste the difference? 🤩 Raise a glass today, cheers Bec #SauvBlancDay #bechardywines #pertaringawines #sauvignonblancday #whitewinelover

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Pertaringa Bec Hardy Wines for its rich heritage, exceptional fortified wines, and the welcoming, knowledgeable staff. The on-site museum and historical ambiance are significant draws, offering a deep dive into the Hardy family's winemaking legacy. While some may find the tasting fees or limited food options a consideration, the overall experience is highly recommended for its unique blend of history and quality wine.

"One of my absolute favourite stops in McLaren Vale. If you enjoy heritage, history, and exceptional fortified wines, this is a must-visit. The tasting room is spacious, welcoming, and beautifully laid out, with knowledgeable staff who guide you through their selection. I’ve been back a few times now, and I’ll admit I’ve spent more than a few dollars stocking up on their rich fortified range and limited editions.

The on-site museum is a real highlight. It showcases the history of the Hardy family and winemaking in the region, with original wine barrels, processing equipment, and interpretive panels that give insight into South Australia's wine legacy. You can even catch a view of the grape crushing platform during vintage season, which adds a real hands-on feel to the visit.

Outside, there's a well maintained BBQ and picnic area under shady trees, perfect for relaxing with friends and family. Clean toilet facilities and ample parking make it an easy stop. The grounds themselves are lovely, blending historical charm with working winery practicality.

The building’s red-brick and bluestone exterior is stunning, and there’s a calm sense of tradition as you wander through the barrel halls. If you enjoy wine with a story behind it, Hardys is a fantastic way to experience McLaren Vale’s past and present.

"I can’t speak highly enough of the Hardys Hidden Secrets tour which my partner and I went on today. He’s been in the wine business for many years and we’ve done more wine tours and tastings than I can remember, but this one was exceptional. We were very glad that we had set aside plenty of time in our day, so we didn’t have to rush this one.
Alison, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging, and made the tour very interesting - not just about the wine-making, but telling tales relating to family members. There’s plenty to see and hear about, and it’s clear that the tradition and history of wine making is as important to the Hardy family as the quality of their wines.
The wine tasting itself (accompanied by some nibbles) was very enjoyable…we loved every wine we tried (all reds, and one fortified).
A definite 10/10 from us."
