What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The North Sydney Olympic Pool is a beloved landmark currently undergoing a significant two-year redevelopment. Visitors historically praised its breathtaking harbour views and its legacy as a world-record-holding venue. While currently closed, anticipation is high for its reopening, with potential pop-up alternatives being explored.
"Excellent swimming pool for all kind of different speeds. Good access via public transport through Milson Point station. Other swimmers are kind and pick lanes according to their speed level. Can get crowded after 5pm though."
Jörg Polakowski
"First of all, great location! Big and clean pool, separated lanes for beginners and experts. You will find lockers where you can keep your things and changing rooms. As disadvantage i will say that 20$ for entrance are a bit much, especially if you think that shower is not free."
Panayotis Ioannidis
"Amazing View, Amazing Pool, Amazing place. Half day must spend at least. Very easy to access thru Milson's Point Station. No car park, except on public streets. Cost for 1 hour is $5 and maximum2 hrs. Expensive restaurant inside. Close by beautiful park under Harbour Bridge. Near by Bar, Restaurants and eateries. Prices moderate. Make sure you ask for upstairs lockers NOT near the pool. Extra 0.50c for hot water."

The Redevelopment Project
While the pool is closed, there's a possibility of a temporary pop-up pool being established as an alternative for swimmers. This initiative aims to mitigate the impact of the closure on local swimmers and visitors who had the pool on their bucket list. It's advisable to stay updated on official announcements regarding the redevelopment progress and any temporary swimming solutions.
The historical significance of the pool, having hosted numerous world records, is being considered in the redevelopment plans. The aim is to blend modern amenities with the venue's rich sporting legacy, ensuring it remains an iconic Sydney landmark.
A Legacy of World Records
The pool's design, with its unparalleled views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, made it more than just a place to swim; it was an experience. Even those who only used the adjacent gym recall the amazing atmosphere and the sheer beauty of the location. This enduring appeal is why its closure for redevelopment has been met with both anticipation for the new facility and nostalgia for the old.
