Moving to Hornsby - what is there to do?
Leaving Waterloo for Hornsby to try and save a bit on rent. Any northern locals out there with advice on interesting local things to do on the weekends beyond what google and typical tourism sites say? I dig hiking and trail running, 🥾 so local trail recommendations are good.…

KuRingGai is beautiful.
One of the main reasons I moved to Manly - Bobbin Head and West head are only about 40 minutes away by car. In fact at the weekends the entire North Shore is a gigantic playground.

"🌿 A hidden gem just outside the city! 🌿
Bobbin Head in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is one of the most peaceful and enriching places we've ever visited as a family. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by lush greenery, calm waters, and the sounds of nature.
We did the Mangrove Boardwalk, a short and easy trail that takes you through a serene mangrove forest—perfect for kids! Just a short walk further and you’ll find yourself in a cool, energy-filled rainforest with a truly sacred feel. The air is fresh, the trees are ancient, and you can sense the deep Aboriginal cultural connection to this land. It’s a beautiful way to teach children about Australia's rich First Nations heritage.
There’s something for everyone here—kayaking and canoeing on the calm waters, fishing by the shore, or just relaxing with a picnic by the river. The picnic areas are well-maintained, and there are even cafes nearby if you forget to bring snacks.
Highly recommended for families, couples, or even a solo walk to reconnect with nature. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for such a magical place so close to Sydney. 💚✨"
