Sanatorium Lake is praised for its peaceful and beautiful natural setting, offering serene walks and stunning photographic opportunities, especially in misty conditions. While the lake itself is noted as not extraordinary, the overall experience is considered fun and calming. Some visitors find the dirt roads leading to the lake to be rough, and leeches can be a concern after rain.
"I love to visit this area especially in winter for taking photos of fungi. There are large car park space and toilet in the picnic area. Just careful with dirt road with lots of holes.
You can enjoy picnic and allow to bring dogs.
But be responsible to take dogs poo, and rubbish to keen this beautiful place clean."

"This is just about 300m away from the car park. The walk path is full of trees and bird sounds which makes the surrounding beautiful and calm. There is a notice says the water is deep so if you are going with kids just make sure you keep an eye on them as they might go to the edge of the lake. You can have a picnic here, but there’s only bench at the corner of the lake. In the evening you can even spot on Kangaroos if you’re lucky."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the lake is beautiful, parents should be extra vigilant as the water is deep and dark. A notice advises that the water is deep, so keeping a close eye on children near the edge is crucial. Dogs are welcome on a leash, which can be a fun addition for families with pets. Remember to bring snacks and drinks for a picnic, as amenities are limited.
📸 Photography Enthusiasts
Consider bringing a wide-angle lens to capture the expansive landscapes and a tripod for sharper images in low-light conditions. The surrounding forest also offers opportunities for capturing intricate details of nature, like fungi in winter. Be prepared for damp conditions and potential leeches, which can add to the adventurous feel of a photography expedition here.
🐶 Dog Owners
It's essential to be a responsible pet owner by keeping your dog on a leash at all times and, crucially, cleaning up after them. This helps maintain the pristine condition of this beautiful natural area for everyone to enjoy. Be mindful of leeches, especially after rain, and check your dog thoroughly after your walk.
