What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the Church Street Heritage Precinct a pleasant place to spend an hour, appreciating the blend of art, local produce, and tourist information. The friendly staff and the quality of some exhibitions, particularly the MAP Portrait Prize, are frequently highlighted positives. However, some visitors have found certain art displays to be less engaging or too avant-garde for their taste.
"We were greeted by a very friendly lady as we walked in who explained everything that was in the Arts Precinct. We were so impressed with the Year 12 Art display. Exceptional! A lovely space to explore art."

"(3.5 stars)
Sharing space with the tourist information centre, Mudgee Arts Precinct is somewhere you can look at art, pick up a map or guide, and buy local produce. The exhibition running in the main, air-conditioned gallery at the moment is the second Mudgee Arts Precinct (MAP) portrait prize. Two that stood out to me were landscape painter, Amanda Holman’s self portrait (2024), which makes cleaning her glasses into art, and Judith Williams’ capture of Sicilian abstract artist, Antonia Perricone-Mrljack (2024), at White Rabbit gallery in Chippendale. However there was plenty of mixed media portraits to look at, nicely hung with good, clear labelling and lighting. Worth stopping!"
