The National Arboretum is a symbol of rebirth, created on an area burned out by the 2003 bushfires. Officially opened in February 2013, the arboretum is now well established and is one of the national capital’s most popular attractions. Guest reporter Andrew Radford, from the hit ABC series The Assembly, went behind the scenes. #ABCNewsACT #Canberra #Arboretum

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the National Arboretum Canberra for its stunning natural beauty, diverse forests, and panoramic views. The free entry is a major draw, complemented by a good cafe and a fantastic playground for families. While some note the ongoing development of the forests, the overall experience is highly regarded as a refreshing and expansive place to explore.

"We had a free guided tour with Carolyn to start and then the day just kept being amazing! You will learn about the plan for 100 forests and 100 gardens while strolling and taking it all in. The weather today was perfect for flying kites. We saw some birds, even one in a nest!
The cafe food was nice and served quickly. The shop is full of quality items at reasonable prices. Getting to come to the Arboretum is free, so that left some $$ to spend on souvenirs."

Nicole Winters

"Amazing spot, with plantings of exotic trees, great views of Canberra. The cafe is quite good, and the bonsai collection amazing and definitely worth a look. Lots of blossoms in spring, and colour in autumn. I really loved the Himalayan cedar forest, there’s a nice sculpture in the middle, and there’s BBQ’s at the lookout. A must visit spot in Canberra."

Jordan Shields

"Place is easy to find. Lots of parking. Helpful staff and kiosks everywhere. Toilets available.

Massive themed park for the kids. A cafe, bonsai room, a nature walk through the trees to a lookout, a discovery garden, lots of cool labels with information and a bunch of sculptures

Lots of wildlife and stunning views. Would seriously recommend."
