What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mettams Pool is widely praised for its exceptional snorkeling conditions and clear waters, making it a top spot for marine life observation. Visitors appreciate the excellent disabled access and facilities, though parking can be a significant challenge during peak times. Some find the natural rock formations and seagrass on the shore less appealing than the pristine underwater environment.
"Best ever beach. Now, even better! Full disabled access to the water! Ramp from road — was five disabled parking spots now only three — two of three beaches accessible by ramp and one to the water. Really great thanks SC and Rotary, really valued!
Check out the beach grooming! Thanks Lachie!
Really great for snorkelling. Pretty much safe to swim every day but you do need to watch the tides, the current, and the wind (don’t forget there’s a tight Reef across the back of the beach with only one or two small gaps which means seals getting in).
There’s toilets on the other entrance. And also another ramp down.
Both access points have showers and a place to sit. The south end has tables and chairs and loads of wall space and seating.
The bins are located at the top on the road. There’s parking spaces for bikes at the bottom..
Don’t bring your dog.
Don’t leave clothing hanging to dry on the railing because that’s where lost property goes — if you put something there someone may claim it, even if it is your yours and you’re standing there looking the other way!
Beautiful beach!!!!
Love these guys — they do a great job with the kids for five hours everyday. The [4 to 6 y/o] kids know more about safety on the beach than most of us after they are done!!!!
Great job keeping the ramp clean and clear. Thanks so much Mr Wilson
If you hear every day you see how much it’s used. Really great the only small problem with it is that it shreds your butt if you have to go down without a leg. It also shreds your clothes. When you watch people go through this for a swim while leaving their leg at the top it’s enough to make you cry. I wonder how we could without causing it to be slippery? Thanks again for putting this in along with brilliant ramp and a smooth pathway to walk.
Cedric and his angel fixed the tap! Hooray!"

"Worse beach I’ve ever seen. The sand area is tiny because the natural rock everywhere is exposed so everyone is crammed onto a small section of sand. Then if you plan to navigate your way into the water, you’re trying to find a spot through craggy rock and when you’re at the water have to find a bit where no weed and sea grass chokes the shore. Why are there so many people here! There are other nicer beaches. To balance my point and to be fair, the sea water is crystal, so snorkelling is quite good."

"This beautiful beach attracts a lot of people so you may have tough time finding a parking spot around there. Water clarity is usually high which makes it’s one of the greatest snorkelling spots. It’s pretty safe for kids as it’s shallow 🐠"
