What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hoopers Beach is praised for its scenic beauty, sheltered swimming conditions, and connection to the coastal walk. Visitors enjoy the rocky outcrops and shell collecting opportunities. However, the strict no-camping policy is a significant drawback for those hoping for longer stays.
"Lovely little beach with lots of rocks at each end.
Dangerous cliffs around so be careful.
Links up with the coastal walk.
Safe to swim in too.
Dogs must be on a lead.
Sadly no camping or even overnight sleeping allowed. In fact, Robe Council doesn't permit any overnight stay on their land and threaten with hefty fines. Pretty sad really as they could attract more people for longer if they had at least one free camp around. If they are like me, they would spend a lot in town too."

"One of the best beaches at Robe. Kid friendly. Sheltered. Easily accessible. Plenty of spots where you can collect an array if shells."

Exploring Hoopers Beach's Unique Landscape
Safety First: While the beach is generally safe for swimming, especially in the central sandy area, the rocky terrain and cliffs require extra attention. Always be aware of your surroundings, wear appropriate footwear if exploring the rocks, and never venture too close to the cliff edges. The beach is a popular link to the Robe Coastal Walk, providing opportunities for longer explorations with stunning ocean vistas.
Community Insights: Travelers appreciate the natural beauty and the opportunity for shell collecting along the shore. The sheltered nature of the beach makes it a pleasant spot for a relaxed visit, though the strict no-camping policy is a point of contention for some seeking longer stays.
Family Fun and Regulations at Hoopers Beach
However, it's crucial for families to be aware of the local regulations. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, which is important for managing children's interactions with other pets. More significantly, overnight stays and camping are strictly forbidden on Hoopers Beach and all Robe Council land. This means day visits are the only option, and visitors should plan their time accordingly to avoid any fines.
Practical Advice: While the beach itself is accessible, the rocky areas and cliffs might require closer supervision for very young children. The connection to the coastal walk offers a chance for older kids to explore further, provided they stay on marked paths and are supervised.
