A 227-year-old estate doesn’t have to live in the past. Rose Hill proves it. Geothermal and radiant heat run beneath century-old floors. Hand-painted walls meet marble and brass. The result? An estate that keeps its soul while living effortlessly in the present. 352 acres under conservation. Two gated drives. Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Rouse Hill House and Farm for its authentic, unpolished charm and the immersive experience of exploring a historic estate inhabited by the same family for generations. The free entry, engaging farm animals, and family-friendly Lego room are significant draws, though the ongoing restoration of the main house means interior access is limited. Reddit

"Rouse Hill Estate isn’t just old, it’s charmingly stubborn about staying that way. You wander through creaky hallways and sunlit verandas, and it’s like the place is gently nudging you to slow down and listen. The schoolhouse still stands like it’s waiting for recess to begin, and the garden feels like it remembers every footstep. It’s not flashy or polished, but that’s the magic, it’s honest. If you’re into places that wear their history with quiet pride and a touch of whimsy, this one’s worth the detour."

"Best experience here! Lego for kids to play! Table for picnic! Clean toilet! Free entrance! Free farm tour and can experience animal feeding like sheep, cow, horse and chicken! The history is good to learn, about Dharug people and Mr Richard Rouse (Rouse Hill) legacy and property"

Diyana Sahariman

"Free entry to this intriguing old estate with vast grounds, a modern visitor centre with a cool lego playroom for kids and several toilets. Rouse Hill Estate was built with sand stone block in 1816 by Richard Rouse, who was a horse breeder and early settler. The buildings were built with convict labour. It is now a museum with everything left as how the Rouse family kept it including broken cars and farm equipment on the grounds. The bathhouse is particularly sweet, framed with pretty flowers. In the paddocks near by I saw sheep, cattle, horses and hens. The house inside seems very beautiful with lush painterly framed portraits, a piano, real wood furniture covered in special nick knacks, gold trim mirrors, a table set up with decorative cloth, shiny utensils and folded napkins. Definitely a worthy day trip from Sydney with plenty of car parks!"
