"It is a nice stretch of sand from the Sandrigham Yacht Club car park at Picnic Point via the Sandrigham Life Saving club and up to Red Bluff.
Red Bluff, the highest cliff on Port Phillip Bay, is the reference location for the Red Bluff Sandstone formation which constitutes the best part of the cliff.
The beach is sheltered from Beach Road traffic noise by tall cliffs, hence it is a steep slope to the sand from the car parks and paths above.
There are public toilets either end of the beach.
If you have dogs and like to exercise them off lead, best period to come is from 1 April to 31 October when dogs are welcome all day long without restrictions.
During the summer period off leash dog walking is only permitted before 10am. See attached sign for full dog rules.
Parking for non Bayside parking permit holders is metered."

Exploring the Red Bluff Cliffs
These cliffs not only offer scenic beauty but also a glimpse into the region's natural history. The steep slopes leading down to the sand mean that access requires a bit of effort, but the payoff in terms of views and tranquility is well worth it. It's a popular spot for a leisurely walk, a quiet moment of reflection, or simply to admire the natural landscape.
Dog-Friendly Beach Guide
However, during the summer months, restrictions are in place to manage crowds and ensure a comfortable experience for all beachgoers. Off-leash dog walking is only allowed before 10 am during this season. It's crucial to be aware of these regulations to avoid any issues and to respect the guidelines set by the local council. Always check for any updated signage or local advisories before your visit.
Coastal Walks and Scenery
These walks are not just about the destination but the journey itself. You'll encounter the calm waters of Port Phillip Bay, enjoy the fresh sea air, and witness the changing landscapes. It's an excellent opportunity for photography, with opportunities to capture the natural beauty, the yacht club, and the iconic Red Bluff cliffs. The relatively gentle terrain, apart from the steeper access points to the beach itself, makes it accessible for most fitness levels.
