Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Arts Centre Melbourne for its stunning architecture, excellent acoustics in Hamer Hall, and the overall grandeur of its venues. The diverse range of performances, from family shows to professional theatre and dance, is a major draw. While the venue itself receives high marks, some patrons have expressed frustration with ticketing fees and parking availability. Reddit+1

"We visited Arts Centre Melbourne – Hamer Hall for The Wiggles: Bouncing Balls Tour. The venue is spacious and beautiful, with comfortable seating. The show was fantastic – lots of lovely songs, fun interactive parts, and colourful staging. We all love The Wiggles, and it was such a joyful experience for the whole family."

"I was lucky enough to head along to the Art Centre for Horizons opening community performance and my god, I can not rave about it enough. If you ever get the chance to see a show from the Bangarra Dance Theatre take it. They have such a beautiful way of storytelling through dance that lights up a room.

The Art Centre puts on so many amazing performance but the location itself is something to marvel at. The whole place feels like it’s built to host spectacular productions and it sure does. There’s the most beautiful light fixtures in every room and the bars look like the perfect place for a cocktail before a wonderful evening. There’s so much history on display in each room with sets from previous show in glass cases, and old costumes lining the walls. I love how lively it always feels and the warm theatre tones feel so vibrant and alluring. If there’s any place to catch a show it’s in these beautiful halls.

After the show you can also get a photo outside of the towering structure above the many theatres which is lit up each night. It’s right on the river which means just across from the original art centre building are breathtaking city views both on the bridge and from above. Climbing up the stairs above Hammer Hall is always a breathtaking sight and well worth a bit of exploration. If you’re in the city looking to explore or a tourist wanting to catch the sights along with a show this is the place to be!"

"It's in the heart of Melbourne so has the appeal of getting there and going for a stroll around Melbourne after.
The show I went to was average.
But the 5 stars are for the arts centre itself.
Possibly a little dated and I'm sure some fancy architecture costing tens of millions could make it more " insert your art adjectives here".
Seating was excellent and I had the cheap seats. If I went again to the same theatre room I would not pay for the better seats at 2X the cost.
Easy to get to we drove in and parked 1km away. The train station is closer. Casino close. Food close."
