"Forget boating or swimming. Top end of the lake is very much wetlands with reeds and trees aplenty in the water. The dam wall gives access for fishing and picnic area. A quiet out of the way picturesque spot off the beaten track with nearby towns Beechworth and Stanley. Good spot to be with a camera. Lake Kerferd was created in 1862 to retain the waters of the Hurdle Swamp for gold mining activities. Well worth a visit on a day with blue skies."
