What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the Sydney Olympic Park Archery Centre for its affordability and the fun, introductory experience it offers, especially for beginners. However, some reviews highlight inconsistencies in instruction quality, with a few beginners reporting minimal guidance and even minor injuries due to a lack of correction. Visiting outside of school holidays is frequently recommended for a better experience.
"Loved the place. Parking is available free for 2 hours. You should book before coming. In hot weather, better to book early in the morning or late in the evening because the Archery area is not shaded. Also, take water with you and sunscreen. Aim well and shoot 🎯 🙂."

"Tried archery for the first time at the Sydney Olympic Park Archery Centre, and it was an absolute blast! The 90-minute session, priced at just $28, began with clear and helpful instructions from the staff, making it easy even for beginners. Safety was a top priority, and the staff ensured everyone was well-informed. The experience was not only fun but also a great way to try something new. Definitely planning to return for another session!"

"The experience was extremely poor. Would not recommend if you’re a beginner expecting real instruction or support.
The staff were unprofessional and inattentive. They gave minimal instruction and made no effort to correct obvious posture mistakes. It felt no different from practicing without any guidance.
As a beginner, I attended the session hoping to receive proper guidance and learn safely.
Instead, there was no correction at all. Because of the lack of guidance, I not only developed a wrist injury from repeating incorrect movements, but also made no progress. There was no enjoyment.
It honestly felt like no one cared whether participants were safe or learning anything."

Learning Archery for the First Time
To make the most of your first experience, consider booking during off-peak times, such as weekdays outside of school holidays. This often leads to a more relaxed atmosphere and potentially more attention from instructors. Remember to wear comfortable clothing and, importantly, long sleeves to protect your arm from chafing against the bowstring.
Bringing your own water and sunscreen is also a good idea, as the archery range is exposed to the elements. The affordability of the sessions makes it an accessible way to explore a new hobby and enjoy an active outdoor pursuit.
Maximizing Your Archery Experience
Consider the time of day for your visit. The archery area is not shaded, so early morning or late evening sessions are highly recommended to avoid the harshest sun and heat. This also tends to be when the atmosphere is more relaxed, with fewer distractions.
For those concerned about potential injuries or discomfort, wearing long sleeves is a practical tip shared by visitors to prevent chafing. While the centre provides equipment, being prepared with personal items like water and sunscreen will enhance your comfort throughout the 90-minute session.
