Suggestions for things to do in the Gold Coast for locals
Hi, I've written a website for things to do in the Gold Coast that doesn't involve all of the touristy things in the area. I've been living in the GC for a year and love it so much, but there's still so much to discover! I would love some ideas of great activities, bars and…
Good hike/walk that is covered in shade that is within an hour drive from Brisbane?
Hi all, I'm looking for a walk that is covered in shade, i.e lots of trees (not a big fan of the sun, sorry). I love Enoggera Walkabout and JC Slaughter Falls walks, but they have becoming too repetitive for me. Anywhere that is within an hour drive from Brisbane is fine.

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the peaceful and serene atmosphere of the Palm Grove Circuit, praising the lush subtropical rainforest, ancient trees, and abundant wildlife like pademelons. The easy, shaded walk is ideal for a refreshing nature escape, though some note the small car park and occasional muddy or obstructed trail sections.
"Nice and easy walk through subtropical rainforest, not too hot even in summer due to the area being shaded as well as wet and cool. Great amount of amazing flora and fauna. Many palm trees, hence the name, as well as ancient fig trees, staghorns, ferns and moss just to name a few. There are also small streams which you can see from the track. The tracks are easy to follow with signs and markers at intersections. There is little elevation gain so it is not steep. At certain points, there are also large gaps and breaks in the vegetation where you can see out east to the Gold Coast and the Pacific Ocean. The car park is a little small though, with only 3 or so slots, though you can park on the surrounding streets."

"Very peaceful rainforest walk. We really enjoyed the atmosphere whilst listening to the different Birdlife & spotting pademelons. The circuit does appear to require some maintenance. We climbed over a big fallen tree across the path near the end. Planks of wood were placed instead of a bridge in one spot but we went to the left of it. Palm leaves were falling from quite a height today making us very alert! Take extra care walking across the muddy areas and rocky path at times. Water is flowing nicely in sections. Shaded and a nice temperature this Autumn morning. Remember the bug spray.
Parking for Palm Grove Circuit has a small carpark to start from with information board. No dogs or bikes permitted."

"As a lone walker I was quiet enough to see alot of red-necked pademelons without them getting scared allowing them to carry on eatting while i watched. Track was easy, signage a little confusing. Limited car parking. Popular walk."
