What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Thunderegg Crystal Mine for its unique, hands-on experience and educational value, especially for families. While the digging can be messy and physically demanding, the thrill of discovery and the beauty of the unearthed crystals make it a highly rewarding adventure. Some suggest bringing gloves and booking ahead for busy periods.
"Thank you Aidan for making our fossicking experience fun and educational. We all loved getting onto the mine and digging and fossicking for gems and Thunder Eggs. It was harder and messier work than I had expected, which made it even more rewarding. Be sure to wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty. We also did the crystal panning, an easier experience, but the kids enjoyed that too. My youngest now wants to be a geologist when he grows up."

"We had such a fun time, the team were so friendly and knowledgeable, luckily arrived and went pretty much into a session. They are every 30 mins, we went in the week and didn’t book a ticket but think it might get super busy at weekends etc… so might be worth booking. You need closed shoes and it’s pretty dusty. Just bring a good swinging arm 🤪 would definitely recommend and don’t be deflated with what looks like rocks as you may get a surprise!"
Leanne Gollop
"I’d recommend gloves. You’ll quickly get blisters. Lol.
This was a lot of fun. We didn’t know what we were digging for but it’s just an experience for the kids.
We ended up with a couple of nice thunder eggs which we had cut and over happy with.
Great adventure for the family."

Family Fun and Educational Value
The staff are often highlighted for their friendliness and knowledge, making the experience even more enjoyable. They provide clear instructions and insights, ensuring everyone understands the process and the significance of their finds.
