Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise the Shangri-La Sydney for its breathtaking harbour views, exceptional service, and prime location in The Rocks. Many highlight the staff's attentiveness, especially for families and special occasions, and the luxurious dining experiences at Altitude Restaurant. However, some reviews note that certain areas of the hotel could benefit from refurbishment to match modern luxury standards.
"Shangri-La just never fails to amaze us. From the moment we walked in, JK and Flynn greeted us warmly in the lobby, and Benjamin at the front desk made our check-in seamless. The room service staff were all incredibly kind as well , John at reception and Ehsan & my man Mohamed (security) keeping the building safe.
As a single dad, seeing my two boys (11 and 12) recognized and treated with such genuine care was the most satisfying part of our stay. My kids felt so loved.
Even when we had visitors at 7:30 PM, Flynn went above and beyond—opening our guest’s car door and making her feel welcomed. She was absolutely in heaven and truly appreciative of the gesture.
Checkout was just as smooth. The manager at Cafe mix gave us the best seat in house .The lobby was full, yet JK remained calm, collected, and still took the time to talk with us. The gorgeous Tamara assisted us with checkout and was just as wonderful.
This was our 3rd stay—and our 4th will definitely be soon.
My kids loved the pool, the buffet ,the views, and, most of all, the incredible staff"

"Room was beautiful. Fantastic service and was the smoothest check in and check out. On arrival they gave us a complientary bottle of champagne and chocolates. We came back after our night out, the quilt was folded back with slippers on the floor ready for use. The towels were replaced. The little things that were done were very special. Would definately recommend and would stay here again. One of the best hotels we have stayed at in Sydney 😊🦋💓"

"Stayed here for a few days in December 2025. It's a lovely hotel with amazing views but unfortunately showing its age. My room was great functionally but in need of a refurbishment in order to meet the standard of other Sydney five star hotels. The staff were very friendly and helpful during my stay, with the hotel in great location although a slight walk up hill from the wonderful action of the rocks."
