The native gardens are generally seen as a pleasant addition.
"A little wildflower garden and wildlife park. We dropped by this little park on the way back from adjacent Whaling Station. Honestly we were not impressed very much by the flowers (the flower beds were well maintained but a bit small), but really enjoyed to see the Australian animals! I’ve never seen such an active wombat! The speaking cockatoo was so lovely too, it said “hello” to us and cried really sadly when we try to leave as if it missed us so much..."

Understanding the Wildlife
While the park is praised for these engaging animal interactions, some reviews express concern about the size of the enclosures, suggesting they might be small for certain animals. This is a point to consider for those prioritizing extensive conservation efforts or large, naturalistic habitats. However, for a relatively small park, the opportunity to get up close with these native creatures is a significant draw.
Beyond the animals, the park also features native plant gardens. These are described as well-maintained and offer a pleasant, tranquil environment for a stroll. It's a nice complement to the wildlife viewing, providing a broader appreciation for the Australian landscape.
Value and Visitor Experience
The overall visitor experience is mixed, with some finding the park to be a depressing place due to perceived small enclosures and uninterested staff, while others describe it as a charming little wildlife place with friendly animals. This suggests that expectations should be managed; it's a smaller park, not a large-scale zoo. The positive experiences often center on the direct interactions with animals like the vocal cockatoo and the energetic wombat.
For those planning a trip, understanding that the park is small but offers friendly animals and pleasant gardens is crucial. It's best visited during the cooler parts of the day, like mornings or late afternoons, to see the animals at their most active.
